Saving & Versions

What Verso Premium includes

Everything that is free, everything that is not, and why you can see which is which before you click.

The division is deliberate: the things everyone does every day are free, and the things that change a document are Premium.

Free, forever, with no account

  • Reading, with every navigation tool — page thumbnails, the document's outline, bookmarks, the annotations list and search
  • The reading ruler, Reading View and Read Aloud
  • Tabs, recent documents and continue-where-you-left-off
  • The whole of page organisation — reorder, rotate, duplicate, extract, delete, merge, split, add pages, crop, flatten
  • Snapshots and restore points
  • Adding links
  • Printing and sharing
  • Appearance and accessibility settings

Nothing in that list is crippled, time-limited or watermarked. It is a complete PDF reader and a complete page organiser.

What Premium unlocks

  • All markup — highlight, underline, strikethrough, notes, drawing, shapes, text boxes, measuring
  • Inserting images into a page
  • Editing the text in a document, and changing its font
  • Text recognition for scans
  • Every export format, plus compression and text extraction
  • Redaction, sanitize and password protection
  • Forms, signing, stamps, watermarks and page numbering
  • Compare Versions, batch recipes, the assistant and the accessibility check

How you can tell before you click

The lock is a label, not a barrier

Every Premium feature carries a small lock, in the document actions panel and in the menu bar alike. Nothing is hidden and nothing pretends to be free until the moment you try it. You can open a locked feature and see what it does before deciding whether to unlock it. The locks disappear the moment a purchase goes through.

How it is sold

The purchase options
OptionWhat it means
WeeklyFor the week you have one job to do. Renews until you cancel.
MonthlyRenews until you cancel.
AnnualRenews until you cancel.
LifetimeA one-time purchase. Does not renew, and means what it says.

There is no trial nag and no countdown. The free tools stay free and stay complete, whether or not you ever buy anything.

Purchases, cancellation and restoring

Purchases go through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment, the receipt, the renewal and any refund; we never see your payment details. Cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings, at least a day before the period ends. Purchases restore through the Apple Account that made them — which is the only thing in the whole app that touches the network at all.

Why it is not a subscription-only app

A lifetime option exists because plenty of people would rather buy a tool than rent one, and because a document app that stops working when a card expires is a document app you cannot rely on. The free tier exists for the same reason: reading a PDF and getting four pages out of a report are not professional workflows, they are Tuesday.
