Organising Pages

How to duplicate a page in a PDF on Mac

For the template page you need six of, and the before-and-after you want to keep.

Duplicating a page copies it, with everything on it, and puts the copy straight after the original.

Free, with no account

Duplicating pages is free and always will be. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing is watermarked.

Doing it

  1. Select the page

In the thumbnail rail or in Organize Pages. Several at once is fine.

  2. Duplicate

The copy appears immediately after the original and the document renumbers itself.

  3. Move it if it belongs elsewhere

Drag it in Organize Pages. A duplicate is an ordinary page from the moment it exists.

What it is useful for

When duplicating earns its place
SituationWhy duplicating helps
A form that needs several copies in one documentBuild the page once, duplicate it as many times as you need, fill each one.
A before-and-after comparisonDuplicate the page, then edit the copy. Both versions sit next to each other in the same document.
A template page in a reportOne well-made page becomes six, each edited for its own content.
A safety copy before a risky editDuplicate, edit the copy, delete whichever you do not keep.
Duplicating a form page duplicates its fields

If the page carries form fields, the copy gets fields with the same names — which means a value typed into one can appear in the other. If each copy has to be filled in separately, rename the fields on the duplicates, or fill each copy and flatten it.

Duplicating a whole document instead

If what you want is a second copy of the entire file rather than a repeated page, use Save a Copy — or duplicate the file in Finder, which is faster and leaves the original completely untouched.
